About…Updated

I am an elementary school special education teacher. This blog was inspired by how unbelievable my last two years of teaching have been. By unbelievable, I do not mean, “That is so cool, it’s unbelievable!” I mean that if a reality show camera crew was following me around, the show would have been canceled after the first two episodes aired “unbelievable”. No one would think for a minute this is the true and accurate life of a teacher in a suburban, middle class town.  The names, when used, are fictitious to protect the insanity and save face.

UPDATE>>>>>

Just realized I never updated my ‘about’ page. Two school years ago I left teaching a moderate~severe special day class at an elementary school in exchange for being a special education preschool teacher. I was burnt out and contemplating becoming a barista. I did not feel like I was in a supportive environment and I dreaded going to work. On top of it, I felt like I was advocating and fighting for my students rights and needs alone, all while attempting to deal with their extreme behaviors, leaving me exhausted and bruised daily. It was the ultimate move for self care. I am in a much better place but still entertained daily and frustrated frequently by the insanity that is being a teacher, especially a special education teacher. My adventure location has changed but the story remains the same.
